DescriptionThere is good design. There is great design. And then there are architectural gems. From the first jaw-dropping view as you round the bend of a curved driveway lined with stately palms, every detail of this luxurious lakefront estate has been deeply considered and deftly implemented.
Fearlessly fusing the steep pitched roofs favored by the ancient Hawaiians with the best of contemporary architecture, Gary Tobey designs the most beautiful homeson Kauai. Beginning with the distinctive, dramatic entries he is known for, Tobey challenges the status quo, artfully blending diverse materials, from rugged to refined. From deep, dark woods to stone, bamboo and steel, the palette is unique, unexpected… perfect.
Indoor/outdoor living is a hallmark of the relaxed, informal Island lifestyle – and creating homes that are open to the outdoors, yet sheltered from the elements is an intricate dance. It is one that Gary Tobey has mastered. Flooded with natural light, his homes are open to nature – yet completely private. Tinted glass, deep overhangs, and radiant barriers reflect heat, while careful site orientation and attention to air flow keep the homes cool and comfortable year round.
These two side-by-side lakefront parcels are nestled in the quietest, most private part of Mal’ie Wai. With unobstructed lake and mountain views, they are counted among the most prime building sites on the north shore of Kauai. The lots can be combined into one larger, luxury home site.
This spacious, well-built structure with 1.5 bath, kitchenette, loft, and generous entry deck is currently used as an Ag/office. Permitted as an agricultural accessory building, it is situated on 11 acres with lake frontage. Predominately undeveloped, this rich, fertile, low-lying acreage is suitable for any number of farming enterprises. The Lakefront Acreage currently retains the guest house building right for the Mali’e Wai development: it is zoned for one building of 500 sq. ft. or less, to comply with County guest house regulations, however, additional agricultural accessory buildings can be permitted for this parcel.
