Motu Tiano is located just a few hundred metres west of Raiatea, the second largest of the Society Islands, one of the five archipelagos comprising French Polynesia. Regarded as the birthplace of Polynesia, Raiatea’s ancient temples, volcanic peaks, and the country’s only navigable river demand exploration while the famous Black Coral Garden is a diver’s dream. The capital of Utoroa, a 20-minute boat ride from Tiano, offers shopping, dining, and the island’s airport. International flights come in and out of Tahiti’s Faa’a International Airport, while Air Tahiti provides daily interisland links, including Bora Bora, the inspiration for Michener’s Tales of the South Pacific.
