Pickerel Lake is a pristine 1,272-acre lake in Forest and Langlade Counties, set in a region where lakes total 21,882 acres across Forest County alone. Just east lies the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, where many miles of winding forest roads and woodland trails invite exploration. Eastern Langlade County is home to the Wolf River, one of the finest trout rivers in the Midwest and known for excellent whitewater rafting. Preserved in a wild state with undeveloped shorelines, the Wolf offers rafters a true wilderness experience in a single day. The Pickerel/Pearson ATV Trail winds through county forest land along Rolling Stone, Pickerel, and Upper and Lower Post Lakes leading to hundreds of miles of outstanding trails throughout Wisconsin. In winter, groomed snowmobile trails crisscross Wisconsin’s great northwoods and into Upper Michigan's beautiful remote trails. Locally, you’ll enjoy Quigs Maplewood Golf Course, ice cream and coffee shops along with numerous classic northwoods supper clubs and restaurants. Nearby Crandon offers the Nicolet Country Club, the Forest County Potawatomi Museum & Cultural Center, and the Crandon International Off-Road Raceway. The Lakewood/Townsend area just to the east offers many more opportunities for northwoods shopping and recreation.
