I moved back to New England last year. Good to be back and get into the regional real estate scene after being gone for so long. The most expensive residential property in New England is currently for sale, both by prior sale price (the home sold for $7.15 million in 2007) and by current list price (asking price is $59 million). One thing I love about New England real estate: the cedar is ubiquitous. It is one of the only areas of the country where so many homes are fortified with cedar. It just seems to give a soothing feeling driving around New England. This luxury property on Nantucket is no exception, as the home is a common regional sight of a grey cedar walled home.
That is about the only thing that is common about the home. The luxury property features ocean on three sides and a moat on the fourth side. It has an “atrium-like” living room, a parlor, a media room, a gourmet kitchen, and many other amenities like a tennis court. O yea, and it has a few bedrooms and bathrooms.
Nantucket is a popular vacation spot for America’s wealthiest, particularly from New York City and Connecticut. Good thing, because it will take $50 million to buy this New England luxury property, a 700% price jump since the last time it sold. The luxury property market in New England looks pretty healthy judging by this news.
