EXCLUSIVITY MEETS PRIVACY

Any executive knows that it is often necessary to entertain. Whether you are hosting charity fundraisers, corporate events, networking mixers, or extravagant parties, inevitably, you will find yourself as the host.

As the founder and CEO of Derma-Lucia Skinceuticals, Lucia Hur is very comfortable playing the host. When she and her husband, John, built their dream home, choosing the right location was essential to the process. They decided to build in the most exclusive, coveted Barton Creek community.

“Once you enter the gated community, our home is located at the end of the street, taking up almost the entire cul-de-sac,” Lucia points out. The 2.45-acre estate is surrounded by the greenbelt, providing both expansive panoramic views and unparalleled privacy.

For those who want to share the magnificent greenbelt panoramic view, Lucia meticulously designed the house to be a perfect venue for hosting events. She explains, “Sometimes you have to entertain, especially if you own a business or company. I’d rather do it at my house.”

When crafting 7500 Escala Drive, the recurring theme of her vision was flow.

“Austin is a city where you bring in a lot of executives, CEOs, and other prominent people for different events,” Lucia explains. “I liked the idea of being open. I purposely opened up the whole thing so people feel comfortable to walk. I think that is essential when entertaining.”

And now, you can be the host when 7500 Escala Drive sells at auction to the highest bidder on August 30th.

DESIGNING THE NOOKS AND CORNERS

The intricacy of design begins before you even enter the home. As you pull up to the expansive driveway, you are greeted with a three-tiered stone fountain. From the moment you enter the foyer of the house, a grand Swarovski crystal chandelier is the focal point — and conversation topic — of every guest.

From the foyer, you’ll notice a flow that invites you to keep walking to the outdoors. As you venture outside, you will find a generously-sized deck, perfect for mingling or setting up music acts. Throughout the outdoors, there are various spaces where guests can socialize, including around the pool, a gazebo for outdoor cooking, a side garden with romantic columns, private decks on the bedroom floor, a ballroom with patio and guest house with a deck/patio.

Inside the home, the chef’s kitchen and personal kitchen are next to each other, separated by a glass wall and glass door enclosure.

“It’s a different concept,” Lucia admits. “Most people put the chef’s kitchen in the back, but I put the two kitchen’s next to each other.” The kitchens make it easy for a caterer to prepare for an event of any size at 7500 Escala Drive.

The home also features a theatre room, including an attached game room with wet bar, a wine cellar, and a ballroom on the fourth floor. The ballroom is perfect for dancing, opening up to a balcony with sweeping views of the greenbelt and downtown Austin skyline. It’s also the ideal spot to enjoy Austin’s fireworks on the Fourth of July.

Lucia’s vision of entertaining included designated spaces for artists and music groups.

“I wanted specific areas, nooks, and corners where an artist could perform,” Lucia explains. “Some performers like to keep their group in a specific area, and 7500 Escala Drive provides that venue.”

LIMITLESS ENTERTAINING

Lucia has hosted all kinds of events, from charity fundraisers to a party for her father. When her father was visiting from California, she brought in the UT opera singers. The singers performed from the interior balconies of the foyer, along with a quartet for a very special, private family evening.

Lucia particularly prefers her events to have a deeper meaning beyond just an excuse to socialize. During SXSW, she hosted a fundraiser with three different music acts, including a band from Korea who was in Austin at the time to play at SXSW. The proceeds of the event went to aid the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.

YOUR CHANCE TO BE THE HOST

With all the deliberate planning that goes into organizing the perfect event, any good host needs an appropriate venue. The best hosting space is made up of several considerations, including location (an exclusive community in an exciting city), privacy (a 2.45-acre estate at the end of a culd-de-sac surrounded by panoramic views), and a meticulous design (where every detail has been thoughtfully planned out). With the space to easily accommodate hundreds of people, 7500 Escala Drive is an entertainer’s dream home in an active city where there’s always something going on.

And now, it could be yours.

7500 Escala Drive will sell at auction to the highest bidder on August 30th in cooperation with Susan Griffith of Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty.
