As I’ve scrolled through my newsfeed on Facebook this month, I’ve been immersed in pink — pink ribbons as profile pictures and stories of loved ones that either passed away from breast cancer or survived this unstoppable disease. Sunday night football — players with pink shoes and towels. The list goes on. The Susan G. Komen® organization stated, “In 2014, an estimated 232,030 cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in the U.S. alone” (http://ww5.komen.org). The disease has touched nearly all of us in some way. For me, through my grandmother and numerous friends who have battled. And, as this is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the statistics are highlighted in everything we read. There are numerous organizations that focus on research to find a cure. One that stands out in my mind/eyes for cancer research is the Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah. We’ve come to know the Huntsmans from their connections in Jackson Hole, a mainstay market for our company since 2009, and their philanthropic endeavors are beyond admirable.

The Institute is now one of America’s major cancer centers dedicated to finding a cure. They recently announced a $100 million expansion that will double the laboratory space and create the Primary Children’s and Families’ Cancer Research Center, which will focus exclusively on inherited and childhood cancers. What a gratifying experience it is to be able to help a cure for cancer by simply living in one of the most extraordinary places in America.
