Behind the Block: Meet Aimee Huffman | Project Sales Manager

Jan 31, 2016

Grinning from ear-to-ear, Aimee explains her journey to Concierge for a third time. Her experience comes from working for a digital media company in Denver, a sustainable development charity in Central America, and her parents’ Edible Arrangement franchise. She’s been with Concierge since October, and takes off to her third project this week.

Q: Why CA?

A combination of factors — the people, the opportunity to travel and be a part of a game-changing company. I knew immediately upon interviewing face-to-face with Laura, Katie and Krystal that this was the place for me. Their passion for the company was infectious within the first few minutes of meeting with each of them, and I was immediately sold — not to mention they all seemed like genuine, wonderful people. I knew I wanted to join a dynamic company that not only had a clear vision of its future, but a vision of where the industry was going and knew how to execute. CA isn’t just an industry leader, but an industry changer. To me that was huge. I will always remember how elated I felt walking out of that interview.

Q: What does Concierge Auctions represent to you?

CA represents teamwork at its finest. Having been a part of competitive sports teams the majority of my life, I understand the importance and value of each individual’s contribution in order to obtain success, and Concierge embodies the true spirit of a team. I’ve gotten to spend more time with the different departments located in Austin recently, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see the collaboration within the team. As a PSM, I’m out in the field and often removed from the day-to-day behind-the-scenes, so to speak, but I still feel connected to every single person and know I can rely on them for support and guidance.

Q: What’s the greatest adventure you’ve ever been on?

This past spring, I trekked 280km through rural Costa Rica — much of that being jungle — carrying everything for the 19-day journey on my back. We slept on the ground, cooked on an open fire — the whole shebang. It was one of the most physically and mentally challenging things I’ve ever done, but also the most exhilarating and humbling. That being said, I have no desire to do it again… at least not for 19 days straight!

Q: What’s the most interesting aspect of your position?

Each day is different and unconventional is the norm. There’s general guidelines of what the PSM role entails and the responsibilities you’re tasked with, but the scope of my role varies with each project, and I have the freedom to expound upon what I’m “supposed” to be doing based on the needs of the specific project. You never know what challenges you’ll be faced with or unexpected circumstances that might arise, but you roll with it and think outside of the box. We’re on a project site solo, but we have an amazing support system at our fingertips, and we’re empowered as the on-site face of the company to educate people about our company and challenge industry norms.

Q: What do you think is your No. 1 personality trait and how does it help you to be better at your job?

I believe it’s patience. Patience goes a long way when building and maintaining relationships… I make a conscious effort every day. Patience allows me to listen fully without interjecting and cutting someone off, whether it be a client, potential buyer, team member or anyone else I meet. I’ve practiced listening and asking the right questions to figure out if there is a problem/need and how I can help meet that need and give the best possible experience. Being patient and assessing unforeseen circumstances in this role is huge, rather than hastily jumping into a situation without giving it the proper thought.

Q: What’s one thing you want people to know about you?

It’s hard to narrow down to just one! When I’m not working, I love teaching yoga, my dog Chico is the love of my life, and I’ve been told I can do a pretty wicked British accent.
