Ted Kruckel began his career in the magazine business. After completing the Time, inc. Publishers’ Training Program, Ted was a copywriter at Fortune magazine. Subsequently he worked at USA Today, Elle Decor, where he was the launch Marketing Director, and made substantial contacts at the highest levels of the home decorating and design industries, and he brings that expertise to his real estate career. In 1991, Mr. Kruckel was promoted to Group Marketing Director of Elle & Elle Decor magazines, where he was involved at the highest levels of fashion advertising, marketing and event management. In 1994 Mr. Kruckel founded Ted, Inc., a special events and public relations company. For over ten years his company oversaw events and publicity for clients including Christian Dior, Vanity Fair, Van Cleef & Arpels, InStyle, Louis Vuitton, Elle Decor, IBM, GQ, Estee Lauder, Allure, Food & Wine and many other luxury brands. Mr. Kruckel was perhaps best known for creating the first Oscar & Golden Globes luxury gift and lending suites, with participants such as Apple, Vanity Fair, Diane Von Furstenburg, InStyle, Van Cleef & Arpels. Julia Roberts wore Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry borrowed from the Ted Inc. Oscar Suite at L’Hermitage Hotel, Beverly Hills, the year she won her Best Actress Academy Award, and again when she presented the Best Supporting Actor award the following year. Mr. Kruckel occasionally still produces high-profile events, notably producing Robert De Niro’s wedding and more recently his 70th Birthday Party in 2014. Ted is involved in many Hamptons charities. He raises money for three divisions of Southampton Hospital and sits on the Rogers Center at Southampton Hospital Advisory Board. He is also the Hamptons agent for PlanetEarth.Org, a global legal advocacy firm that defends the environment. Mr. Kruckel attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he got his undergraduate degree featuring minor studies at The Wharton School. He was the Class of 1985 Undergraduate Essay Award Winner, a member of the Friars Senior Honor Society, a member of the Varsity Swim Team and a Daily Pennsylvanian Columnist. In 2014 Mr. Kruckel competed in a open-water swimming race around The Statue of Liberty and finished in the top 15%. Ted also writes an occasional for the Southampton Press newspaper about architecture.
