Jennifer Van Ness grew up in New England but headed south in 1988 and never left. After graduating from Sweet Briar College with degrees in Environmental Studies and Government, she moved to Richmond, Virginia, where she married her husband, Jim, had two children, Ashton and Hank, and practiced real estate for more than 15 years.
In 2006, she and Jim took their first ferry ride across the Cape Fear River and fell in love with Bald Head Island. A week later they returned and purchased a vacation home. In 2015, Jennifer decided to make Bald Head her full-time home and brought her real estate skills to the island.
As full-time resident, Jennifer understands the logistics involved with owning a home on Bald Head Island and puts this knowledge to use helping her clients. Whether buying, selling, or upgrading to a larger home, she takes pride in advocating for her clients through her exemplary customer service. She works with her buyers and sellers through every part of the transaction by connecting all the dots: from identifying property, to writing the contract, to inspection, to closing and beyond. After closing, she is happy to answer any questions about the island, such as how to receive a package or where to find a good spot to watch the sunset.
When Jennifer isn't working, you can find her walking her dogs on the beach, boating with her family, or enjoying a variety of sporting activities at the Bald Head Island Club.
