I was born and raised in Puglia and after completing a degree in Economics in Parma (North Italy) I moved to London for a career in banking;there, the days were long and grey at the 33rd floor of a skyscraper. Yes, there were nice views of the city but I still was confined within four walls compared with what life was back in Puglia: sea, sun, great food, the countryside, parties with friends and family! So, I decided to travel around the world keeping an eye on a good place to live when I realized that my native Puglia had all I wanted.
While looking for a profession that allowed me to be outdoors among ancient olive trees, the drystone walls and near the sea, as well as the chance to interact with people from overseas, I discovered the estate agency service was an excellent match! And that’s how I started my real estate journey!
After working for 15 years as a conventional real estate agent I started feeling uncomfortable acting purely in a neutral capacity as a dual agency service ( as It is in Italy) because clients, be they a seller or a buyer, put so much trust in me that either party asking advice would mean me stepping over the boundary of neutrality.
There were many cases where I was asked to sell a property where I discovered many building illegalities or property title encumbrances that were never mentioned or pointed out to the owners at the time of buying. Even up to a point where, in one instance, I had to inform the overseas owner that almost 90 percent of his property was built without a building license and it could not be legalized, and the only official measure would be to demolish most of it! This was the tipping point for me to dedicate my whole agency service to the Buyers!
