In 1979, at the adventurous age of 10, I moved to Hawaii with my family. We spent our first summer living on a sailboat anchored in Hanalei Bay, soaking up the magic and diving into the new adventures surrounding us. Then, with the high surf of the winter season approaching, we retreated to terra firma and moved into a home on the beach.
I attended grade school in Hanalei, high school in Kapaa, and then the University of Colorado. I earned a degree in International Business and graduated Summa Cum Laude at the head of my class.
Following college, I fed my wanderlust, traveling extensively to places like Nepal, Tahiti, New Zealand, Indonesia, and Mexico. I worked many years as a boat captain, guiding tours along Kauai’s famed Na Pali Coast, and later as a fly-fishing guide in Alaska’s Bristol Bay. When I was 30, I finally decided it was time to “settle down” back home on Kauai. I love our beautiful island and am grateful to call it my home. I am a “Kauai Boy” at heart – I love our sun and our rain!
Professionally I am a licensed Realtor with Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers. I also own and operate my own land-use and project consulting business, Landmark Consulting Services. My dual roles as Realtor and planner complement each other and provide many crossover benefits to my clients.
In addition to my busy career, I find time to work on a number of community and non-profit projects. I am an active member of the Hawaii Islands Land Trust, which protects the lands that sustain Hawaiʻi. I am also involved in The North Shore Path project, a private/public partnership promoting the development of a biking and walking network linking the communities of Kilauea, Princeville, and Hanalei. Otherwise, you can find me riding my mountain bike, fishing, or surfing.
