How To Bid

The Process

Browse an auction on Conciergeauctions.com. We encourage you to contact our auction representatives, whose contact information is included on the auction property page.

Place a bid through Conciergeauctions.com from the start of the auction until the lot closes. See below for how to bid in our online only and live auctions. Please contact the Client Services team in the event should you need any assistance.

Watch your bids! If you are outbid in an online only auction, you will be notified on the auction property page.

After your lot has closed, you will be notified on the auction and lot detail pages as well as via email. If you are the winning bidder, you will receive an email from a closing manager shortly after the auction including details on closing instructions.

Maximum bid: A maximum bid placed ahead of the auction which will be executed on your behalf by the auctioneer or a representative of your choosing in response to any other bids placed on the lot. If your maximum bid is below the reserve, responsive bids may be placed by Concierge Auctions on behalf of the seller up to the amount of the reserve ahead of the live auction. Upon the start of the live auction, if your maximum bid has not yet been met, the auctioneer will execute the bid on your behalf at the lowest price possible and never for more than the maximum bid amount you indicate.

To place an proxy bid ahead of an auction, please contact clientservices@conciergeauctions.com. You will taken through the registration process for your desired lot and will receive a confirmation of your proxy bid via email. If you are outbid during the auction, you will be able to see the current high bid on Conciergeauctions.com.

Live Auctions

There are four different ways to bid in a live auction: by telephone, online, in the room, and by proxy bidding ahead of the auction. Aproxy bid enables you to set your maximum price on a lot to be executed by the auctioneer or a representative of your choosing.

At the stated date and time, a live auction will begin when the auctioneer opens the first lot for bidding. Clients are able to participate by bidding in the saleroom, by telephone, or online via Conciergeauctions.com. Bids will be accepted in the order they are received and the highest bid placed will win each lot. When competitive bidding subsides, the auctioneer may send a fair warningmessage to indicate that the lot will close imminently. Please note that placing the leading bid before the live auction begins does not guarantee that another client will not outbid you before the auctioneer closes the lot.

Auction Glossary

Maximum Bid

Your maximum or proxy bid is the highest amount you would like to bid for a lot. It will be executed by the auctioneer at the lowest price possible, and never for more than the maximum bid amount you indicate. Please note that if two clients enter the same maximum bid, the bid which was entered first will have priority. You can increase your maximum bid at any point ahead of the live auction.

Proxy Bid

Your proxy bid is the highest amount you would like to bid for a lot that will be executed by the auctioneer or a representative of your choosing, never for more than the maximum bid amount you indicate. Please note that if two clients enter the same proxy bid amount, the bid which was entered first will have priority. You can increase your proxy bid at any point ahead of the live auction.

Starting Bids

Bidders may submit a Starting Bid on without reserve lots prior to the bidding commencing to reduce the Buyer's Premium by 50% in relation to the Starting Bid amount.

Counter Bids

A Counter Bid is a bid placed by the auctioneer in order to move the bidding closer to the Reserve. Counter bidding is common practice throughout the auction industry to help the buyer and seller reach a price that works for both parties, so the auction is successful. In a reserve auction, Concierge Auctions may place counter bids until the Reserve Price is met. When bidding reaches the Reserve, Concierge Auctions will no longer counter bid.
