Description

"With almost 23,000 square feet of living space on 46 acres, Rai Ki Wai is one of, or perhaps the largest homes on the Fiji Islands. It includes six suites in separate pavilions, each with en-suite bathrooms, decks and gardens, as well as an additional bedroom with full bathroom, lanai with its own full bathroom and two half bathrooms with expanses of terraces and landscaping surrounding the buildings."

Location

The aesthetic of the Rai Ki Wai draws on Balinese and Asian influences, with the strong, beautiful Fijian hardwoods used throughout the entire design. The estate is based on colonial-style pavilion architecture.

Eat. Drink. Entertain.

The property includes a main living pavilion, complete with a 4,200-square-foot open living/bar area, a 5,000-square-foot master bedroom pavilion, and a double guest pavilion. All three are connected with open-air walkways of polished wood from native trees, but maintain a privacy and intimacy difficult to replicate within a single building.

Guest Accommodations.

Whether hosting a smashing party for 200 in the main pavilion or an intimate weeklong getaway for close friend, Rai Ki Wai works equally well for entertaining as it does for a party of two. The property comfortably sleeps fourteen guests, with additional lodging available at the Wakaya Club & Resort. Three Fijian-style guest bures are a one-minute walk from the main pavilion. These guest houses have 32-foot ceilings, spa bathtubs, indoor/outdoor showers and private decks, a lovely romantic get-away from the festivities of the main house. The property also includes a secluded caretaker pavilion with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Outdoor Living.

Perched atop the highest spot on the island, Rai Ki Wai has views to the South Pacific. Down magical pathways through the lush tropical landscaping and vast lawns, through groves of papaya, mango, coconut, banana, and towering banyan trees shared under the giant canopies of massive rain trees, their leaves thick like florets of broccoli, and on through trails in the dense rainforest, you finally reach the ocean.

About the Area.

A tiny dot of an island in the midst of the South Pacific, Wakaya lies in the heart of Fiji, a nation made up of 333 islands located 1,500 miles from the coast of Australia. Only 100 are inhabited. Wakaya — one of the world’s top 10 best spots for scuba diving — is approximately five miles long by one and a half miles wide, set in the Koro Sea due east of Fiji’s main island, Viti Levu. Because of its remoteness from industrial pollution, Wakaya boasts one of the purest ecosystems in the world.
