TUXEDO PARK, NY – November 19, 2010 – Concierge Auctions is pleased to announce that Topridge, a stately Tuxedo Park Manor estate on 19.3 manicured acres only a 60 minute drive to Midtown Manhattan in New York City, sold today at a live, on-site auction. The luxury auction was conducted in cooperation with listing agent Cindy Booth of Towne & Country Properties Sotheby’s International Realty. The buyer was also represented by Towne & Country Properties Sotheby’s International Realty.

“As a client of Sotheby’s Auction House, I’m both familiar with and confident in the auction format as the most efficient process to produce the highest value for the finest, most unique items,” stated Topridge seller, Heidi Steiger. “I was extremely impressed by the Concierge team. They followed through on every promise and generated more showings in five weeks than the property had experienced in nearly three years on the market. Concierge clearly knows how to separate premier properties from the pack and garner the focus of qualified buyers. I’m thrilled they were able to generate today’s sale, and I can now move on with my future endeavors.”

Concierge Auctions’ global outreach produced 93 prospects and 9 bidders. The five-week marketing campaign generated an impressive 3,257 visits to the auction website from 59 countries (led by the US, Canada, United Kingdom and Sweden) and 48 US states (led by NY, NJ, CA and TX).

Comprised of approximately 12,000 square feet of living space, Topridge rests on 19.3 magnificent acres with manicured lawns and original hand-hewn stone walls. The 7-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom estate offers spectacular lake and mountain views as well as gardens that have been carefully designed to bloom throughout the spring, summer and fall. The stately Georgian manor designed by Delano and Aldrich was carefully constructed in 1909 of native stone and stucco and reflects the elegant, peaceful country living that it has provided in Tuxedo Park for nearly 100 years.

Convenient to the New York State Thruway (I-87) and buses and trains to New York City, Tuxedo Park is the ideal business and leisure commuter location. Shopping and dining facilities are nearby as are both public and private schools. Recreational activities abound including fishing, boating, swimming at the Wee Wah Beach Club, skiing at nearby Tuxedo Ridge Ski Center, golf and hiking the vast trails of Harriman State Park.

“This auction was a significant accomplishment for our team, as it marks our third successful sale in the tri-state area in just the last three weeks,” stated Concierge Auctions CEO George Graham. “As inventory levels continue to pose a challenge nationwide, our process is the solution for sophisticated, capable sellers who seek a guaranteed solution to monetize their luxury properties. This is an exciting time for Concierge Auctions, and we look forward to parlaying our success towards accomplishing the goals of more tri-state sellers in the days ahead.”

About Tuxedo Park, NY

Over a hundred years ago Pierre Lorillard IV created his breathtakingly beautiful sportsman’s preserve out of a mountain wilderness and created an enclave of mansions and beautifully designed homes by the best known architects of the day, clustered around three sparkling lakes beneath the lovely Ramapo Mountains.

The roads wind through 2,500 acres of parkland, charming because of its craggy, unspoiled beauty and free of overcrowding and suburban development, this historic district is a tribute to spectacular architecture and environmental planning. Tuxedo Park is a well preserved village that lies peacefully beyond a manned gate house that provides absolute privacy and security.

Tuxedo Park showcases residences, some of which date back to 1885, when Pierre Lorillard commissioned Bruce Price, a famous turn of the century architect, to build the first 13 summer cottages. In only eight months, their crew of 1800 European laborers built 30 miles of roads bordered by possibly some of the most beautiful stone walls to be seen today. Lorillard encouraged Price to exploit the rough materials found in the area and to subordinate the design of the residences in the natural beauty of the environment. As more homes were built between 1885 and the early 1900’s, nearly every important style of American domestic architecture was represented, including Tudor, Spanish Mission, Georgian, Jacobean, Gothic Revival, Queen Anne and Dutch Colonial Revival.

The architects whose work appears in Tuxedo Park reads like a Who’s Who of the times, including McKim, Mead and White, James Renwick, Jr. William A. Bates, James Brown Lord, Richard Howland Hunt, Robert Robertson, Warren and Wetmore, and Delano and Aldrich, just to name a few. Few communities in the country retain such a remarkable number of significant residences in such pristine condition.

All this, in less than one hour’s drive from New York City. Convenient to the New York State Thruway (I-87) and commuter buses and trains to New York City. An easy commute to all three New York metro airports and Stewart Airport is less than an hour away. Shopping and dining facilities are nearby as are both public and private schools. Recreational activities abound, including fishing, boating, swimming at the Wee Wah Beach Club, skiing at nearby Tuxedo Ridge Ski Center, golf, and hiking the vast trails of Harriman State Park.

“A place where a man who has to work in New York City may live the year round, where there is the highest altitude, the least number of miles from town, a place where little children may be allowed to run at large in safety – in other words as a most beautiful place of permanent homes, Tuxedo Park is nearly as ideal as can be found.” – Emily Post, 1911
