Description

Purchased by Thomas Hyatt in 1883, the 3,688-acre Flying Horse Ranch became and has remained a working cattle ranch to this very day. The Flying Horse Ranch and the surrounding National Forest offer ample opportunities to see almost every big game animal in the state including elk, mule deer, antelope, bear, and mountain lion.

Location

The centerpiece of the Flying Horse Ranch is the 10,711-square-foot lodge. With a price-point of close to $800 per square foot, this incredible structure was built in British Columbia using massive white cedar logs and reconstructed on Horseshoe Lake. Without question, it is one of the most impressive log lodges built in North America, with onyx chandeliers, Persian carpets, vaulted ceilings, restored hardwood floors, and roaring fireplaces.

Cozy Lodge Living.

The main lodge offers two masterpiece masters, both with ensuite bathrooms and fireplaces. One room showcases a 10-foot-high intricately-carved fireplace, a copper soaking tub and double granite vanity sinks with mosaic basins. The other master suite is a complete apartment on the second floor of the lodge with sweeping views from the deck of the plains below, with equally opulent furnishings as its counterpart. Three other guest rooms complete the lodge, each with their own personality and individual delights.

Ranch Life Living.

Beyond the lodge, the Flying Horse Ranch includes two lakefront cabins, and a ranch house. The log cabins sit on the shores of Horsehoe Lake, both with decks for enjoying the view. The cabins include a downstairs bedroom, living area, and full kitchen, with a sleeping loft above. To get even closer to nature, Flying Horse also includes a Fish Camp nestled in the pines near Baker Lake in the north forty.

Equestrian Amenities.

The latest addition to the ranch is the 7,492sf log barn. It comes equipped with extensive equestrian facilities, including eight stalls, bathing booth, tack room, loft hay storage, workshop, heated office, and restroom.

About the Area.

The land is an outdoor lover’s dream, with countless streams for fly-fishing, trails for hiking, rocks for climbing, mountains for skiing, and horses for riding. Breckenridge, Keystone, and Denver are all an easy — and beautiful — drive from the ranch for shopping or dinner out.
