Fawn Hill Farm Sells at Auction
Fawn Hill Farm, a spectacular 34-acre colonial estate with a working farm originally built in the late 1930s, sold today at a live, on-site auction, Concierge Auctions is pleased to announce. The auction of the luxury estate was conducted in cooperation with listing agent Mary Horn of Weichert Realtors.

Country Estate and Working Farm
A rare 34-acre New Vernon luxury home and working farm in the heart of prestigious New Vernon, adjoining the area's miles of pristine equestrian trails that lace Harding Township, Fawn Hill Farm is a truly picturesque property. With two ponds, sunny pastures and unspoiled woods, this storied estate is perfectly situated within one of the most affluent rural pockets in the United States - ranked one of the 25 richest zip codes by Forbes Magazine - and enjoys nearby direct train service to Manhattan from both Morristown and Madison.

Originally built in the late 1930s, the estate's main house, a classic stone manor with slate roof and colonnaded rear terrace, has been impeccably renewed to today's luxury standards and boasts 21 rooms, with seven bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and three half baths. A testament to consummate colonial grace, the home's interior details, including pegged hardwood floors, arched doorways, seven distinctive fireplaces and extensive millwork and wainscoting, lend a timeless warmth.

Whether the three acreage parcels are purchased intact or individually, each address at Fawn Hill Farm affords a priviledged and rare country-gentry lifestyle.

Estate Grounds
A private tree-lined drive winds its way to the porte-cochere and into a private courtyard overseen by the magnificent main home and a two-bedroom guest house. The grounds immediate to the manor are quite lovely, accented by a sunken formal garden suitable for outdoor parties and an enchanting side patio overlooking another garden retreat with swimming pool and pool house.

Nearby, a motor courtyard hosts 12 bay garages as well as a staff cottage with two comfortable apartments. The grounds also includes a four-stall stable with apartments and other barns.

Distinctive Details
The interior of the main residence of the New Vernon luxury home exudes an aura of refined grandeur throughout, commencing with the 33-foot by 16-foot wainscoted foyer replete with elegant, fine appointments, pegged hardwood flooring, grand Georgian staircase and foyer elevator to the second floor's many bedroom and bath suites.

Formal Living and Dining
The 32-foot by 20-foot formal living room features extensive and intricate moldings, pegged hardwood flooring, fireplace with designer mantel and French doors to a side patio overlooking the pool - ideal for gracious and large entertaining alike. The main dining room and small dining room are both elegant, each with fireplace.

Gourmet Kitchen and Breakfast Room
The home's Old World-style yet newly updated kitchen features high-end appliances and adjoins the family room. An epicurean kitchen built to satisfy even the most well-versed of chefs, no detail or modern convenience has been overlooked. The kitchen features extensive custom wood cabinetry, brick flooring, granite countertops and backsplash, granite-topped islands, two Sub-Zero refrigerators, two Asko dishwashers, two Thermador ovens and a four-burner gas stove.

A large breakfast room is highlighted by a brick fireplace with raised hearth, beamed ceiling, brick floor with hardwood inlay and a double sliding door to the patio.

Bedrooms and Master Suite
The many tastefully appointed bedroom and bath suites on the upper floors are spacious and inviting. The master suite revels in comfort, offering the sublime luxury of his-and-her dressing rooms and baths.

Entertaining Amenities
The lower level adds a media/exercise room and the unexpected fun of a full-size bowling alley, accompanied by a fireside sitting area with marble-topped wet bar. The home also features a quiet library with fireplace, wet bar, built-in bookcases and paneled walls with inlaid wainscoting. Outside entertaining abounds with an in-ground pool and hot tub spa in a garden setting with pool house containing a mini-kitchen, bar with sitting area, indoor and outdoor showers and powder room.

History
One of the largest intact estates within the New York City sphere, Fawn Hill Farm traces back to 1937, when Allan Kirby, the president of Alleghany Corporation and a substantial stockholder in F.W. Woolworth, purchased part of a large New Vernon farm. On the 34 acres, then called Graymar Farm, Kirby retained the estate manager's house and barns, but razed the original stone manor. The farm stayed in the Kirby family until 1980. A few years later, the estate was acquired by its current owners, who re-named it and embarked upon two decades of meticulous restoration of the main house and other buildings.

About Harding Township, New Jersey
A picturesque community known for its open meadows, quiet country roads, hundreds of acres of woods and wildlife and expansive estates, Harding Township is set amidst the rolling hills of Morris County and is a tranquil enclave of quiet elegance and small town charm a stone's throw from the bustling streets and endless amenities of New York City.

Located along the NJ Midtown Direct train line, just 35 miles to New York City, 25 miles to Newark and 83 miles to Philadelphia, working professionals have flocked to the area for years as an ideal escape from the city bustle.

With 40-percent of the 20-square-mile township declared as protected open space, Harding Township residents enjoy a rural, country lifestyle where cows and sheep graze in the fields and horses can be found on the 50 miles of bridle trails winding - all with ease of access to the amenities of the City and nearby upscale suburban towns, shopping centers and major highways.

The rural atmosphere is further enhanced by the 7,000-acre Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, home to more than 244 species of birds, fox, deer, muskrat, turtles, fish, frogs and a wide variety of wildflowers and plants, and the 1,200-acre national historic site Jockey Hollow.

Many relatively unchanged large country estates that have been passed down through several generations can be found throughout Harding Township and are a testament to the wealth of its residents. Some have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and further many have the support of nonprofit organizations that assure the retention of the original nature of these fine estates.

Located within Harding Township are two unincorporated communities - Green Village and New Vernon, both of which have origins as colonial settlements that predate the American Revolution. The governmental offices for the township are in New Vernon, as is Fawn Hill Farm.
