Grand Tudor Style Near Princeton University
Designed in the grand Tudor style by Princeton's renowned architect Rolf Bauhan in 1927, this distinguished home has elegant interior details throughout and masterful renovations that innovatively meld it into the 21st Century. Ideally located within walking distance to prestigious Princeton University and the shops and restaurants on charming Nassau Street, the estate is inviting yet grand, boasting plenty of space for gracious entertaining, and features five bedrooms (one above the garage - also ideal for a private office or study) and seven and a half bathrooms, four fireplaces, a library, a garden study, pool, exquisitely-manicured grounds, a family room/conservatory, gourmet chef's kitchen, and a beautiful brick-walled terrace. A spacious studio/guest house is also on the property and seamlessly matches the Tudor style of the main house.

Architectural Details
Elegantly-designed by one of the most prolific Princeton architects of the twentieth century, the home blends gracefully into the historic fabric of the town – a detail common to many of Rolf Bauhan's estates, which are known for reinforcing the character of the town's rich and important Colonial history and many extant eighteen-century buildings. This Colonial Tudor style often represented a rejection of the extravagant and eclectic architecture of his time and a return to more "classical" forms.

Living Room
Immediately adjacent to the home's grand staircase, with its intricately-carved white-painted railings, dark hardwood banister and stairs, and geometrically-detailed stained glass window, is the main gathering space. Impressive, custom wood doors give way to a bright and open space. Grand in size, yet warm and inviting, the living room features traditional Colonial design finishes with modern amenities. The room's center fireplace, with an ornate wood mantel, is a stark contrast to its backdrop – a creamy, plaster-based wall, artfully textured by a New York City artist.

Rich, dark wood built-ins with painted white under-window cabinets with doors offer ample space for both displaying artifacts and treasures and providing hidden storage. Detailed crown molding and baseboardsoutline the room and enhance the deep hue of the hardwood floor, which, in addition to the upstairs hallway, has been sanded and treated with eight coats of stain and sealer.

With modern conveniences integrated throughout the room, the space fosters the ultimate in entertaining, including a retractable movie screen and ceiling projector shelf for home theatre optimization, and a surround-sound stereo system, which is also integrated into the home's formal dining room and kitchen.

Ideally located off the living room is the garden office. With direct access to the outdoor terrace and yard through floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, the office is perfectly situated for ease of access and quiet relaxation with views of the property, pool and stone walkway leading to the outdoor studio/guest house. The office features new heating and a ceiling fan.

Formal Dining Room
Graciously entertain in the home's formal dining room, which suffuses warmth and hospitality while maintaining a fresh balance of sophistication and comfortable elegance. Traditional Colonial design elements, including a wood-burning fireplace with marble surround, detailed crown molding and rich dark hardwood floors, seamlessly blend with modern finishes and amenities, from the room's recessed lighting to its clean, subtly-striped wallpaper and surround sound system. Rectangular in composition, the room is poised to be outfitted with even the most substantial furniture pieces and can well accommodate eight to twelve people for larger dinners and gatherings. Or, host an intimate wine tasting, while music flows through the integrated surround sound speaker system, and enjoy bottles from the home's wine cellar - climate-controlled for preservation and built to outfit up to 800 full bottles.

Gourmet Kitchen
Recently renovated, the home's kitchen has been expanded and modernized and offers a clean, sleek design with even the most serious gourmand or gracious of hosts in mind. Opening to the outdoor terrace and the family room/conservatory, the kitchen is ideal for entertaining with a layout that can be extended for indoor-outdoor living.

Outfitted with top-of-the-line appliances and modern conveniences, including a stainless steel 4-burner Viking stove with center griddle and hood, Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer, Miele "Incognito" dishwasher, a hot water tap in the double stainless steel sink and new radiant heating, no expense was spared. Finishes include upgraded cabinetry – several with stained glass fronts – sleek, black granite countertops with mirrored backsplash and beautiful wide oak stained hardwood flooring. Seamless black countertops grant a modern feel to the space and are a stark contrast to the white cabinetry. A breakfast bar with ample seating is perfect for casual gatherings or additional preparation space, and is the ideal place for chopping fresh herbs or vegetables from the home's garden, which  is located directly off the kitchen's outdoor patio. Recessed lighting, built-in shelving and surround sound speakers complete the space.

Master Bedroom
The master bedroom suite is the perfect retreat, with luxurious amenities and tasteful fixtures and finishes, including rich hardwood flooring, recessed LED lighting and surround sound. The focal point of the room is the substantial wood-burning fireplace with a gorgeous, detailed wood mantel. Enjoy a morning coffee or evening glass of wine with views of the outdoors in the adjacent sitting area, or cozy up with your favorite novel. The suite's new master bathroom is outfitted with a seamless stall shower with steam and seating, large Jacuzzi soaking tub, his and her vanity sinks with stone countertops, Villeroy & Bosch faucets and radiant heat.

Completing the master suite are two fully appointed expansive walk-in dressing closets with gorgeous frosted glass-front pocket doors, shelving and drawers; one with a custom built-in vanity.

Guest Bedrooms
Each of the home's upstairs guest bedrooms is warm and cozy. An expanded bedroom on the second floor gives way to an enclosed porch and is outfitted with hardwood flooring and two closets, one of which includes built-in drawers. The second bedroom is en-suite, providing guests with the ultimate in privacy and convenience. The suite's new and modernized bathroom has been thoughtfully outfitted with a tub and shower, granite vanity and updated radiators and covers. A large closet and a closet with built-in drawers and hardwood flooring complete the space. The downstairs guest bedroom also features hardwood flooring and has unique, built-in antique wardrobe drawers and conveient access to a hall bathroom with seamless stall shower, tile flooring and a granite vanity. Also on the lower level rests the home's library. A wood-burning fireplace with built-in bookcases provides the perfect atmosphere for quiet, cozy reading or relaxation.

Loft Bedroom Suite
A loft bedroom with separate private exterior entrance and an en-suite full bathroom with seamless stall shower and a granite vanity is ideal for nanny, caretaker or guest suite and is outfitted with wall-to-wall carpet, skylights, exposed ceiling beams and a separate A/C unit. A spiral staircase conveniently leads to the home's mudroom, which opens to the rear terrace via a sliding glass door.

Family Room
Overlooking the exquisitely-manicured back lawn, the glassed-in family room/conservatory showcases views of the guest house and the over 500 spring bulbs – bluebells, daffodils, crocuses, snowdrops – display a burst of color. Just beyond, a stately, 175-year-old sycamore tree stands guard.

The beautiful new ceramic tiled floor has radiant heating, and the windows have horizontal drapes that keep the heat out in the summer but allow a view to the outside. Ideal for entertaining, the family room/conservatory is spacious, with enough room for separate, yet open dining, and entertaining areas and French doors that seamlessly extend the space to the outdoor bluestone terrace with circular seating area and adjacent lawn.

A low, brick wall sets the foundation of the hexagonal structure, from which large windows extend upward and into the ceiling above. The one interior wall that is not complete glass showcases exposed brick of the home's signature exterior, and two windows and French doors offer a clear view and direct access to the kitchen. Copper gutters and downspouts flank the outside of the structure, in perfect keeping with the remainder of the home. A Sanyo air conditioning unit and overhead fan provide comfort throughout the seasons.

Studio/Guest House
Follow the estate's stone-inlayed walkway to the detached studio/guest house overlooking the bromine-based pool and main house. Complete with a large game room and bathroom with walk-in sauna, hot tub (with new Jacuzzi pump and heater),exercise room and a kitchenette with space for changing and a stall shower, the home is an ideal escape and serves as a perfect retreat for guests. Elegant hardwood flooring gives way to crisp, bright walls with built-ins and a loft ceiling with exposed beams. Clerestory windows, a sliding glass door and two large skylights allow natural light to flow into the space. The built-in storage provides plenty of room for hobbyists and artists alike.

A spiral staircase leads to an upstairs bedroom that charmingly sits in the peak of the vaulted roofline and boasts a wall of windows that perfectly frame a view of the main house. From the top of the staircase, the architectural detail is impressive – six support beams form a series of diamonds with the roofline that seem to go on and on until they reach a vertical window beyond.
